I'm new here. I'm looking for recommendations for overseas suppliers of Liothyronine. Been taking T3 only since 2011 after thyroid cancer and a long run of problems taking T4. Now it looks as if my GP cannot prescribe it anymore due to licencing issues. Feeling abandoned by NHS. Not willing to give up my health because of some ruling!
No more T3???!!!: I'm new here. I'm looking for... - Thyroid UK
No more T3???!!!
T3lover,
Ask your GP or practice for a written explanation of why T3 is being withdrawn after 5 years and formally appeal the decision in writing with the CCG. It may be worth copying your MP on the correspondence.

Also as well as your own MP, copies to Jeremy Hunt and Sarah Wollaston perhaps?
This has happened to me. I too felt abandoned. Since then I've been taking natural thyroid extract and I feel better. Not as much as I'd like but my condition is affected by diabetes which i struggle to control.
I lost my prescription for NHS T3 same as you. Since then I am ordering T3 on my own from Greece. It's not expensive and I am satisfied with it. Sent you link on PM.
Hi Hidden,
Please could you PM me with your T3 supplier in Greece? I would really appreciate this if possible. I have tried to find your icon and PM you but computer says no for some reason. I am hoping you will see this. Thanks.

Hi,
I've not heard about a licensing problem. Is it Mercury Pharma T3? If so, then it might have be taken away because of cost. I've found out that the cost for 1 month supply for me of 2 tablets per month is £520.00. I only know because I've been taken off Armour and my specialist told my GP to prescribe T3 instead. I asked my pharmacy for the costs of both to see if Armour was cheaper to try and get my GP to prescribe it. I'm much better on Armour but my specialist can no longer prescribe it for me.
TT x
There isn't a licensing problem with T3. It is still listed in the British National Formulary for July 2016 :
evidence.nhs.uk/formulary/b...
The price given on that page for T3 :
Tablets, scored, liothyronine sodium 20 micrograms, net price 28-tab pack = £152.18
is completely out of date. It's now a lot higher than that, but I haven't kept up with what it currently is.
The problem with T3 is simply a money problem. It costs too much. Some doctors will admit it, but most of them make up convenient lies, like it is no longer being licensed.
CCGs are the organisations preventing doctors from prescribing it, just to save money.
Hello Ging, sorry about the delay. I'm trying "Raw Thyroid" made by Ultra Enterprises which I found on Amazon. Best of luck!
