I had a text message (new technology!) from my doctor's surgery saying that my recent ultrasound thyroid scan was normal. As I have Hashimotos with thyroid peroxidase Ab of 1300 and a note "suggestive of on-going thyroid damage" at my last blood test, wouldn't this have shown up on the scan?
Interested in your thoughts.

The scan may not show damage consistent with Hashimoto's or if it does, your GP will consider that 'normal' as you have Hashi's. Ask to speak to your doctor and ask him/her to discuss the scan report or provide you with a copy. Questions you can ask are is thyroid normal size, small or enlarged, is the gland texture smooth or coarse, are there nodules, if so, how many, which lobe and what size are they?
Thank you Clutter, I think I just assumed there would be some inconsistencies but as you say that may be normal for me. It's good that there is nothing major. I have an appointment soon so I will be prepared!
