Hi I had a full thyroid test last week and today I called the surgery for my results I spoke only to the receptionist and she said all have come back but dr wants to see you about Antithyroid Peroxidase Antibody, can anyone help me with what this means??

Elevated thyroid peroxidase antibodies means you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) which causes 90% of hypothyroidism in Europe and America. There is no treatment for autoimmune disease but 100% gluten-free diet can ease symptoms and reduce antibodies and may delay progression to hypothyroidism. Levothyroxine is prescribed to replace low thyroid hormone when TSH is over range.
I think you probably do. GP wouldn't call you in to discuss a negative result. Having one autoimmune disease (vitiligo) does predispose you to contracting others, it's almost as though they hunt in packs
