Clutter can you advise please....

Clutter here are my recent blood tests. I am feeling like I want to stay in bed all day!

March 7, 2016

Free T3 3.5 (2.4-3.9) pg/ml

Free T4. 0.9 (0.6-1.2) ng/ dl

TSH. 0.02 (.40-5.80) microlU/ml

copper. 1.52

zinc 0.80

I am taking Naturethroid 1.5 grains in morning and 3/4 grains afternoon

But all I want to do is go back to bed. no energy at all. its just really discouraging as I thought going from Armour to naturethroid would be great. Thank you so much to anyone who is willing to help!

Hi abby3216,

Have you had your Vit B12, Folate, Ferittin & Vit D checked? If not, please do as the levels need to be optimal for Thyroid Hormone Replacement to fully work.

I think your zinc is too low. I can't remember the ratio, but zinc should be higher than copper. However, you Don't give the ranges, so that might change things.

You are takin vit D3, you say. D3, magnesium and zinc all work together. So, it could be that taking the D3 has unbalanced your zinc. If I were you, I would try taking magnesium and zinc - plus vit K2 - with my D3. Most people are deficient in magnesium and zinc, anyway. But, Don't start them all at once. Start one supplement at a time and leave two weeks before starting the next one. :)

Thank you greygoose. I have very high cortisol on all three saliva test times so am taking extra zinc for that. Good idea about adding the magnesium too. Thank you .

Abby3216,

Your FT3 is close to top of range but you could try increasing your afternoon dose to 1 grain. I'm not sure it will help much because FT3 is already good and I'm wondering whether the fatigue and lack of energy are due to something other than thyroid.

Thank you Clutter for your reply. My doctor wants me to do more blood tests soon so maybe she can find a reason. I am scared to think of what it might be, however. She did just increase the afternoon 1/4 grain two weeks ago but I can increase it more to see if that. helps.

Abby3216,

I think it might over medicate you if you increase it on top of your doctor's 1/4 grain increase.

abby3216 in reply to Clutter

ok

thank you. so I wont increase.

Interesting abby3216 I have pretty much the same symptoms and I am also on Naturthroid. Your doctor sounds supportive do you get your Naturthroid on the NHS?

abby3216 profile image
abby3216 in reply to Margo

I am in the US margo and have a supportive doctor. But this is so frustrating. I was on Synthroid forever and a year ago went to Armour and then directly to naturethroid.

I am actually glad I am not the only one who feels this way. Is your cortisol in the high categorie?

Margo profile image
Margo in reply to abby3216

I am much much happier on Naturethroid and am confident that things will improve, I need to do a cortisol test, as I don't know where I am on that score. I will be seeing a Nutritionist soon to help me as it may be a question of vitamin levels.

Thanks for your reply abby3216

Abby, have you had your adrenals checked? I found when I continued to feel exhausted after optimal treatment for thyroid it was because I had been in a state of adrenal exhaustion and hadn't addressed it. If you are feeling totally wiped out an adrenal support supplement or desiccated adrenal may help.

abby3216 profile image
abby3216 in reply to teenarocks

teenarocks....so if my cortisol is high three out of four saliva test numbers....could that be adrenal exhaustion? its only lower mid day.

Doc said to increase my zinc but I already don't have an appetite. Thank you for your reply.

Abby, I'm sorry I'm not well educated about cortisol levels. But I will say that mine was only off on one of the four tests and I benefited from taking desiccated adrenal. When three of your four tests were off, what were you advised? Only to take zinc? It seems to me with your tests being high and your continued symptoms of exhaustion there's a fair chance you are suffering from adrenal fatigue.

Thanks teenarocks....I am thinking you are correct.

you are supposed to raise by elimination of symptoms, not labs..if you reach 4 grains, and feel toxic, yet hypo, then you goon t3 only..is what i have read in my neverending research on this crappola.

faith63 profile image
faith63

alsom ndt can be take 1zx per day, which has the t3 saturate the cells..according to expert, Dr. John Lowe.

I'm just wondering as your FT3 is quite high you might actually be taking too much. I did this and didn't realise at first then made a comment that I felt better on the way up then realised what I had said and dropped it and felt loads better.

Yes. Actually found it quite difficult near my sweet spot. In that position again! Had major surgery in Janusry and was sick for days afterwards so had lost a lot of medication, not only my NDT but had to stop the supplements as well. Found it hard afterwards as meds took a while to get anywhere near normal so eventually added a quarter realising that when I got my supplements up to scratch ( as not converting well without) I would probably swing over! Felt over a few days before bloods which showed me well over so Endo dropped me down to less than half for 10 days. Only did 9 as stressed from bad water leaks but now making my way back up again. Was always taught to dose according to my temp so waking should be 36.9 and 3pm 37.1 -when I remember to take it! Presently 3 pm spot on but waking 36.6. I take my NDT all at once or else I forget so need to get more T4 stored I think. Still half a grain down to what I was on and have energy but if not careful use it up and then down the following day but going to stay on present dose a while but if that's not enough think another quarter will clinch it. That will still leave me a quarter down from what I thought was right so looking as though that was t quite right for me. Trouble is I see people on a lot more and tend to think I must have got it wrong but listen to your body. Only you know how you feel.
