Hi all, I had my thyroid removed chemically in 2011. I am on T3 and T4 but still feeling really ill and totally exhausted. Can anyone tell me if there is a 'natures way' of healing without a thyroid? i.e. foods, juices, supplements etc. Thanks

What is your current dosage of T3 and T4?
Do you have your latest blood results?
Do you have a print-out of your most recent blood test results? If so, post on a new question if you don't have them today.Make sure the ranges are quoted as labs differ and it makes it easier to comment.
Many doctors believe if the TSH is anywhere in range 'the jobs done'. Not the case we have to have all symptoms removed and feel well.
It isn't easy but it can be done but due to the doctors in the UK sticking to the guidelines and mistakenly believing that the the TSH 'anywhere' in range and you are on sufficient thyroid hormones is wrong.
I feel very sorry for you as I have a thyroid gland but was very unwell on levo. I improved a bit on T3 but I'm fine now on T3 only.
Everyone is different and some don't like T3 and do well on levo.
There are natural dessicated thyroid hormones which the NHS rarely prescribes. They are more conducive to some people's bodies and provide all of the hormones our body would produce.

When you go for your blood test it should be as early as possible and don't eat before it but you can drink water. Allow 24 hours approx between your last dose of hormones and the test and take it afterwards.
If you've not had Vitamin B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate tested ask for these as we are usually deficient which can cause problems.
Always get a print-out with the ranges from the surgery for your own records. You can post if you have a query.
Joan47,
Supplements and diet will not provide the thyroid hormone you require and you will need thyroid replacement. If you post your thyroid results and ranges we'll see whether you are optimally medicated on your current dose.
The blunt answer to your question is no, but you need not continue to feel the way you do.
This is another member's experience of having her thyroid gland removed so you are not alone in suffering with inefficient treatment, it would seem:-

You can ask your doctor if he will prescribe some T3 to your T4 (levothyroxine) as many improve enormously when T3 is added.
