When is the best time to take natural thyroid?

I've just had my first delivery of natural thyroid, I have been told to take 1/2 my thyroxine dose and 1 grain or natural thyroid by dr peatfield ...... I take my thyroxine at night, when's the best time to take the other?

You can take both together. As Dr P is assisting you I'm sure you'll improve quickly.

Some might decide to take a dose when they get up and another at bedtime. The only thing to remember is that your stomach has to be empty and at least 2 to 2.5 hours should have elapsed before you take thyroid hormones and allow approx one hour before you eat.

I find it more convenient to take one daily dose then I can lead a normal life without meds dictating my day.

Thank you, I was jut a little concerned, as its natural, I assume it reacts quite quickly, I'm not sure I wanted to be up and buzzing instead or sleeping! 😁

T4 has a longer half life than T3. Even though T3 is absorbed into our receptor cells quickly, its effect lasts between 1 to 3 days. Because it isn't synthetic it is more compatible with the human body.

I'd split dose into 1/2 grain morning and 1/2 grain with your Levothyroxine.  T3 at bedtime can improve sleep but if it disturbs your sleep take the second dose a few hours earlier.
