When is the best time to take my thyroxine?

Can someone please clarify the best time to take my thyroxine? Are there any foods or drinks I shouldn't be having near this time? Confused!

Take thyroxine well away from food, drinks other than water, supplements and other medicines. All too many things interfere with absorption. We usually say try to keep things 2 hours apart - but with iron, try for fours hours (or more, if possible!)

Some people prefer bed-time, some morning, and some almost any other time you can think of!

I started taking mine before bed a week ago after reading something on here! A bit early to say I've noticed a difference yet, I guess time will tell. Good luck with yours, I hope it is working for you x

Hi, I have been taking 100mg levroxine for over 3 years now, and found the best time to take it is first thing in the morning, on waking. I hope this helps you. I have been told by my doctor (for what its worth, not a lot) that diet does not help.

I have tried taking mine in the morning & at night. For me the morning works better. I leave my pills opened ready to take, & usually wake enough between 5 & 6am to swallow them with water. Then I doze until 7am, get up & eat breakfast about 8 am.

If I sleep in I always leave at least an hour between meds & food, even if it means taking something like a sandwich to work with me.

It is really important to leave a gap between meds & food.

I find that coffee drunk either before or after takings meds has an effect so I have no coffee at least 2 hours or more before taking my meds before going to bed and it works fine for me also I very rarely drink tea so hence I take them at night as I cannot function in the morning without my strong black coffee

If I try taking it at night , would it be ok as I take my simvastatin then? And also weekends if I have a couple drinks will it be ok??
