The perfect pill cutter

Nothing better than an old penknife with a steel blade (rather than stainless steel).  Sharpen each time before use with a kitchen knife sharpener.  Here is an example of 14 French Cynomel pills cut in half.  Notice how few crumbs....works fine for quartering too.

Ahhh an Opinel! Can you get them in the UK?

Etes-vous sûr qu'il est un Opinel? Je me suis immédiatement pensé à Laguiole. (Merci, Google translation tools.)

Are you sure it is an Opinel? I immediately thought of Laguiole.

(I have a nice little Opinel upstairs. It is about 2mm longer than is now legal to carry without good justification so not safe to just keep with me on an "in case of need..." basis.)

I did understand your French. lol But, of course, you are right! It is a Laguiole. Opinels fold up, Don't they. I was thrown by the wooden handle. I have a set of Laguiole, but the handles are plastic. And the blades are stainless steel. Tigreg's Laguiole looks like a very old one. An absolute treasure, I would say!

I don't know.  I live in France.  Actually it's an old Laguiole.  Even better!

Yes, of course you do, I remember now. Is that a family heirloom? You Don't see them in like that in the shops anymore.

Family heirloom.  The have become collectibles.  Actually, mine has horn handles and does fold.  You can still find some on the French eBay.  I love mine, thanks for the compliment!
