No - i use a scalpel and it works perfectly

Mine is just a cheap one from Boots but it does the job

I use the cheaper one from Boots too and it's fine...might try a scalpel though as you can see where your cutting..a good idea too.

Don't think I could trust myself with a scalpel.

Not a problem....I use them a lot in artwork and you wouldn't need to push the blade out far....just remember to retract it into the handle when you've finished ! X

The jittery hands might drive the blade closer to my hand than might be safe lol!

OK.....not a good idea...best go to Boots for a pill cutter.The cheaper one works...don't know what advantage the De Luxe one would be as didn't look at it....the assistant gave me the cheaper one.

This is the one I use, if you line up the groove in the pill with the blade it does a great job.
