Hi everyone I am new here so please bear with me. I basically have been feeling very unwell for quite a few years now and had a thyroid function test via the nhs back in 2008. Underactive thyroid runs in my family down The female line luckily for me. The results came back normal but the symptoms continued. Hair loss, extreme tiredness, weight gain, getting bloated and swollen, dry skin, the lot. Recently I decided to get a private test done which is basically a 24 hour urine test and tests for T3 and T4 levels. It has come back that I have low T3 levels but only slightly at 570 and the normal range is above 610-3380. But my T4 levels are at the lowest point which is 630 and the normal range is 1,030-8,240. The ratio between the two hormones is at. 0.90 which is within normal range. Can anyone shed some light onto what this means at all because I am very confused by it. If I have hardly any T4 do I need to seek NHS help or not as the overall ratio is within normal? Many Thanks x

Confused about results low T4, low T3 but normal ratio.
Blood tests are the most accurate for thyroid hormones. Urinary excretion tests are inaccurate. There's information on PubMed about this. Why don't you use Blue Horizon if you want to go the pay as you go route?
Hi katie, I have had blood test done privately with blue horizon. I had the full plus ten package and they helped diagnose that I have hashimotos and vitamin, mineral deficiency. I know now what I need and can recommend doing it. Put your results on here and let those with experience interpret them for you. Good luck
I will try. I am not great on these forums! thank you. I will definitely check out blue horizon.
Hi, this was done via Genova over a 24 hours and then averaged out I think. I will look into the blood test, check out blue horizon too thanks.
