Wow! Not often you see such low levels, you must feel awful. Hope you start noticing an improvement soon.

Okay, for comparision, my levels were <27. My Endo put me on 20,000iu A DAY for two weeks and the level is still only 126. I think your GP has been far too conservative. You should probably be on that a day for a couple of weeks at least PLUS 100mcg of K2 per 10,000 iu for calcium distribution. Then on to a lower dose intil Vit D is optimal.

You poor thing!

GPs think Vit D is dangerous. Bloomin' eejit GP.

Just to put it another way - your GP is asking you to take 1 MG of vit D, once a week. Just 1mg.

IUs sound scary but they're tiny, fractional amounts.

Our GP prescribed me a high dose for a few weeks last summer and I felt great ..then put me on Adcal not so great. Also prescribed 3,200 recently for my husband and when they had finished, he was told buy off the shelf! Never was we told about K2! Recent bloods showed I have high calcium, again the GP said it's fine. Now I supplement us both on high dose Vit D3 and K2.

Thanks to this forum for all the info x

I've not been tested through my GP, did it privately with City Assays.

Mine was 15. I started with 40,000 daily for two to three weeks then 5,000 daily. That got my level up to 200 in a couple of months. I then just took 5,000 daily Monday-Friday (weekends off) as a maintenance dose and my level is now 150.

My results were 31 and it took 2 months to go up to 60 on 5000 a day when the doctor dropped them to 2500 a day as a maintenance dose but they dropped again 2 months later to 40...... Don't know the answer but I think doctors go on the side of caution. I know I felt so much better though and would hate for them to drop again when it's so unnecessary.
