A couple of questions

Hello all its been a while since I've wrote on here hope everyone is doing well . I have hashimoto which I have blood tests for which I've just had taken the nurse said all normally no further action . I asked for a copy of results she said they don't give copies out yet I've had one before so don't understand why not . Has it changed now that dry don't give copies anymore . I was really shocked my thyroid test came back normal my cholesterol came back 6.5 so had gone up they have now put simverstatin up to 40mg and my Dr said I'm entering the perimenapause stage . I just wondered if anyone else is going through the perimenapause and suffering the symptoms . I'm not on any medication for Washington at moment because I'm so called within range .

Shortytree, the nurse is wrong, the Data Protection Act entitles patients to their test results. Ask your GP receptionist or practice manager for a print out of your recent results. You may be charged a nominal £1/£2 to cover the cost of printer ink and paper.

Surgeries sometimes charge a nominal fee or require a days notice for a test results request so doctors can confirm the results. Either way you are entitled to your test results.

Low thyroid hormones can cause high cholesterol and statins shouldn't be taken until thyroid hormone replacement is optimal.

If you are symptomatic, post thyroid hormone blood test results (when you get them) complete with ranges (numbers in brackets ) for members to comment.

You sound as if you would benefit from thyroid hormone replacement which may eliminate many of your conditions and calm Hashi attacks so helping to reduce a high antibody count.

Ask your GP to test Vit B12, Vit D, folate and ferritin as deficiencies are common in people with hypothyroidism and are required for good thyroid synthesis.
