Is there anyone out there who has recovered from hypothyroidism by taking T3?

I am just starting on it so I need some hope!

It's early days yet, I'm on my second week but I've felt improvements from when I was on NDT. So far so good. I think it's all trial and error in the end. We are all individuals and what works for one doesn't for others. Wishing you good luck!

Hi Sue, I started taking T3 along with Levo six weeks ago and I am feeling the best I have in more than a year.. Good luck!

Thanks to both of you that sounds great. I am taking it without Levo, but with Nutri thyroid.

Most of the posts on this site are so depressing, perhaps when people start to feel better they forget to tell us!

We have had quite a few positive responses when people have recovered. Some are delighted with the change in their health.

Obviously, if/when people do get well there's no reason to log in regularly. They are enjoying a normal life

I have been on just T3 medication for about 6 years now and feeling so much better including loosing 3.5 stone in weight. Instead of being badly swollen with myxoedema I can now bounce round a tennis court for a couple of hours playing a hard and fast game 3 times a week, ride a bike and my brain is functioning so much better. Yes, T3 has given me back my life!

Hello

I'm delighted to hear your story, that's wonderful! Are you in the uk? If so where do you get your medication, I have to,get mine from the USA, the GP won't prescribe it.

Best wishes

I fought long and hard through the NHS system before an Endo would give me T3, I had to physically refuse to take T4 medication before he would give in. Yes I live in the East Midlands and get about half the T3 I take from the NHS but top it up with T3 bought now from Greece, although I did start off buying it from Mexico.

Hope the T3 works for you too,

Well done! You have obviously found that the Greek source is ok, is that <a source>?

I used to be dashing around tennis courts etc, but not for quite a while but would just like to get some life back again and do normal things

Best wishes.

Yes and it works just like Cynomel used to for me. The only problem I have now is the T3 on the NHS is so variable in quality. At present I have a poor batch and am really struggling with the hypo symptoms again. I have reported it but nothing seems to happen with the manufacturers and right now my pharmacist is struggling to get some decent batches. It really makes me angry that the manufacturers just don't seem to be able to get it right and they don't seem to care either, they just keep charging the NHS £200 a pot for medication that is substandard quality.

Thank heavens for T3 from abroad!

Do you take your medication once a day ?

To me, recovered would imply that you no longer needed medication.

I know lots of people who returned more or less to normal on the meds (including some on Levo) but whatever works for you its for life, in general.
