Hi,

Amongst many other health issues.

It was only around 2yrs ago that I was diagnosed with under active thyroid, and I still don't know exactly what and how it affects the body. I've read plenty of information but it seems that they have different ideas, my doctors, so noe I'm totally confused what it effects, etc. I was started on 25mg of thyroxine and now up to 100mg, but since diagnosed with this, all different things have changed, my hair loss is so dramatic that my own GP will only give you the minimum dosage although I might need extra. Ive just had an appointment with my doctor at the hospital, and she seems to think that my dosage is not high enough, so I'm having another test. I was also the you can only have 125mg of thyroxine, but now told different. Because of my other elements, I have APS, vitamin D & K, folic acid, and lumber facet joint diease, L5/L4 & S1 (disc), Athritsis, i could go on. Im now totally confused about exactly what the thyroid actually plays in my body because of everything else and what I've been wrongly told by different people.

Regards

Tina

Hi Tina

You might be better copying and pasting this to a new post, because you will get better answers that way. Also, if you have your results, with ranges, then members can comment and try to guide you.

But basically the thyroid is needed in every cell of the body, so if you don't have enough, you will have problems. Your hair loss could be due to a number of things but one of the key minerals is ferritin (stored iron). You need to ask for a few blood tests, including full iron panel, full thyroid panel including Free T4 and Free T3, Folate, Vit D and B12.

If you are already taking Vit D, make sure it is D3, and take it with K2 (mk7) which helps it get to the areas you need it, like the bones, otherwise it can be dumped in places you don't want it (like arteries, veins, etc).

Never accept the doctor telling you levels are "normal", always find out for yourself what they are and look at the ranges, they need to be high in range in most cases.

Hi,

Thank you very much. I've just had the doctor that I saw this morning with a result that's now really worrying. I was in shock so I did not catch the exact result of the test but she said that my (something) D is very very high which points to either a DVT or PE, if not, something else is going on. My INR is 2.8. I've got to go back but I've got Fragmin and Wafarin etc. Please can you tell me what the D is, as I said, when she mentioned another clot (I only had a PE last Nov), I was stunned.

She was so addiment that I'm to go back to the hospital, but I'm also scared now because of having so much Fragmin (and I have so many haematos everywhere), my hair loss is drastic, I feel like just giving in. I cannot take no more kick backs. Have you any idea what this D is??

Help!!!!!

D-dimer is a blood test to diagnose blood clotting abnormalities.

Thanks,Bantam12 didn't know that.

Firefoxie007, have you got oral fragmin or injections? If you are having lots of haematoma you definitely need to go back to the hospital as soon as you can because something is wrong.
