People with thyroid problems seem t have eye problems too. I had Graves and watery eyes were part of that. I've also got really dry eyes and I know it isn't logical but when eyes are really dry they can also water a lot so it might be worth either seeing your optcian who can check what is known as your 'tear break up time' that will tell you how dry they are. It's easy and pain, ess, they put a drop of yellow stain in your eyes then watch through a machine while you blink. that shows how long it is taking for your tears to dry up. The optician will also be able to tell if you have blocked tear ducts or anything like that.

To be honest I'd go straight to the optician and skip the doctor because a lot of doctors don't know all that much about eyes.

You can get drops for dry eyes, I prefer drops for during the day and a gel for night time. Make sure you get preservative free drops / gels. I also rinse a facecloth out under a hot tap and hold that over my closed eyes, it feels really good. You can buy an eye bag that you put in the microwave, I've got one of them too but still prefer a hot wet facecloth.

Sunglasses on bright days help too and I find the air conditioning in my husband's car makes my eyes feel awful. if you get dry eye drops then make sure you put them in regularly throughout the day - not just in the morning and at night.

Perfect timing then. Make a list - just bullet points of exactly what the problems / symptoms are. I always do that for the doctor etc because if I don't I always get home and realised I've missed something out. :)

If your local hospital has a walk-in Moorfields Eye Clinic I'd go there. My husband had a painful eye and Nurse in doctors could see nothing. He was in a lot of pain so went to Moorfields in local hospital - you don't need appointment. The doctor with his strong magnifier could see that an eyelash had turned in and removed it.

He then gave my husband the tweezers used and said if it happens again, you can just try to do it yourself.

Did that mean, to look in a magnifying mirror whilst trying to hold eyelid open with one hand whilst the other is holding tweezers and attempting the procedure. At least the thought did give us a laugh :)

P.S. husband very happy to have eyelash removed.

Be interesting to see the doctor's reaction when your husband goes back with an eye injury after a botched do it yourself eyelash removal job. 😄
