I've been on naturethroid for 2 months the dose I'm at is 1.5 grains my free t4 is only 0.8 range 0.8-1.8 and free t3 2.8 range 2.8-4.2 does that mean I just need an increase or what like will increasing raise my t4 and t3? Or do I need a different brand?

Lindsey1987, you need to increase dose until FT4 is higher and FT3 >3.7. You can increase dose at 1/2 grain every two weeks but probably best to stick at 2.5 grains for 6 weeks and retest to check FT3 is within range before increasing further.

Depends how you feel.

The trick is to take a bit more, gentle increments. Get to feeling great then immediately get a blood test. See the result, pin it on your wall and THAT is your target. We are all different.

No matter what my free 3 or 4 are doing I need a TSH of 0.4- 0.7.

The last doctor who reduced my meds by a tiny bit had my TSH go to 5.27 in a week!

Trust how you feel and don't get hung up on numbers until you know what your unique numbers are. Hope that makes sense.

I am not on Natrethroid, I am on Armour but I noticed the same thing, t4 at the lower end of the scale and T3 low because it has a half life of about 7 hours (and you don't take your pill before a blood test so you will only be reading your residual level of T3 - T3 is therefore hard to measure). I asked myself - but how do I feel? If you feel fine, don't worry about it, maybe that brand you are taking is getting absorbed more efficiently. I had a few hypo symptoms on my initial dose of NDT-Armour (1 1/4 grains) so I increase my dose to 1 1/2 grains (don't tell my doc!) and my symptoms went away. My symptoms were that I got very sleepy in the afternoon and I had some muscle and joint pain in my legs - but , after I tweaked my dose up a bit, I am now OK.
