Jobeth, the 'best' T3 is that which works for you and different brands suit different people. Pfizer Cytomel is certainly the most expensive T3 but that doesn't make it the best.
Had a box of it once, it was good but not that much different or superior. And it's horribly expensive if you have to pay for it yourself. At the moment I am as well searching for T3, since I am running out of my supplies. However, I don't have money for Pfizer.
I hear nhs tertroxin is £248 for 28 pills
jobeth,
The product available in the UK is no longer called Tertroxin. It is simply "liothyronine". Still the same actual substance and still (I believe) sold as Tertroxin in some other countries.
The current BNF shows this:
Liothyronine sodium (Non-proprietary) Prescription only medicine
Tablets, scored, liothyronine sodium 20 micrograms, net price 28-tab pack = £152.18
evidence.nhs.uk/formulary/b...
Prices in BNF tend to lag a little behind reality but I am not aware that it has reached £248.
Yes, that's what my pharmacist told me about a month ago. I was very shocked. My gp, said I can have it if I pay on private prescription. That's why I was asking about cytomel, is it the best as I'd rather pay £150 for 25 mcg 100 pills from USA, than 20 odd pills UK for £248
jobeth,
The private prescription price can vary between pharmacies in the UK and is higher than the NHS price. So if you are going down that route, ask around before you order.
The price I see for Cytomel is slightly more than you quote.
You are likely to find that you have to pay 20% VAT on the price including any P&P charge. Plus a customs clearance charge of £8 (if through Royal Mail - possibly more with other carriers).
But still less expensive than MercuryPharma liothyronine in the UK.
Other USA makes such as Perrigo (formerly Paddock), Mylan, Sigmapharm, are usually less expensive.
People vary. Some prefer one over another but it is impossible to know before you try.
Jobeth.. If you have a prescription for your t3, you can order from universal drugstore in Canada. You just place your order and then email them a copy of your prescription as an attachment. I used to get my Erfa from them until Erfa went bonkers last year (some bad batches) and they are reputable, legit and strictly 'by the book'. I don't know if they will be cheaper but their prices seem to be pretty good compared to some others that I have checked.
Unipharma's 30x25mcg blister packs of liothyronine is available over the counter in Greece for less than 2 Euros and works just as well as Mercury's extortionately priced version! (Luckily I have a brother who lives over there...)
I don't have a brother or anyone there but I am ordering it. It's not expensive.
