My recent Thyroid test results are TSH 0.402mIU/L, T4 19.72pmol/L, T3 3.82 and antibodies 83.52kIU/L
I'm currently taking 125 a day of levothyroxine
I had my Iron checked and my results are TIBC 55.96umol/L, Ferritin 262.9ug/L , Iron 24.06umol/L
I know High ferritin and hyperpigmentation can by a sign of haemochromatosis but I have also heard that it can be due to Hashimoto's because it causes metabolic syndrome.
My total Cholesterol is also high which could be due to low T3. My good Cholesterol higher than the bad.
My GP won't even give me a Cholesterol test so I am trying to research and self-medicate because I feel that is my only choice at the point.
Looks like you aren't a very good T4 to T3 converter and that you will probably benefit from adding some T3 to Levothyroxine. Most T3 bought online is 25mcg. Buy a pillcutter so you can quarter the tablets into 6.25mcg doses and start with 6.25mcg added to 125mcg Levothyroxine until you know how you tolerate T3. If you feel okay you can increase to 12.5mcg by taking a second 6.25mcg dose 8-12 hours after the initial dose. Hold at 12.5mcg for 6-8 weeks and have a thyroid test including FT3 before increasing further. You can order via thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...
Thyroid antibodies are technically negative for autoimmune thyroid disease but (Hashimoto's) but they are so close to the top of range I don't think you can exclude Hashimoto's. Your gluten-free diet may be reducing antibodies. There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes.
