DAY 3 - Today's update. I had quite a good night sleep. Took my temperature when I awoke and it was 36. Taken again during the day is 36.5. My pulse is 70. Still no sign of being over medicated. Obviously TSH is still high I guess. Too early to start getting blood tests again. Became so very tired as the morning progressed, felt I could drop, stingy eyes etc. So I took quarter of a 25mcg tablet T3. The Nuti Adrenal tablets arrived today too so have taken 2 of them. Felt a little hypo still after the T3 and yet the Nutri Adrenal seems to have lifted me after having a bit of a nap. Still a bit worried about that High Free T3 but with no discernable symptoms I still worry a bit that its wrong. Its such a shame Im having to do this at the busiest time of the year and just as Im going away so hopefully what Im doing is correct. Feel better as had Balliage done on my hair again and it looks great. Have found one side of my thyroid gland is a bit swollen and I guess thats the reduced T3?

Day 2 (day 4 of not taking T3.) I had a bad night last night but I know its because I was worrying badly about that high Free T3 level. I started thinking about the low T4 and not taking T3 so that my T3 levels are depleting (or what if they're not depleting and Im still dealing with high Free T3).

I came on here overnight panicking and I still don;t have any idea whether I should be more worried or not. I think I decided that even though my Free T3 might be a bit high, I should take something at least because I also read that you should never stop taking T3 suddenely. That got me even more scared.

So I took 5 mcg of T3 and I feel dreadful today. So tired. I ran my book club that I hold once a month, started to feel a bit spacey at times (annoying because I used to feel like that for years) and background worrying about what to do still. Then came home, slept for a while at the same time as trying to organise myself for my trip away, Christmas preparations and packing, present shopping, especially with a view to keeping everything in order for my return.

Im not sure if the tiredness is because I had little sleep or if its because the T3 is leaking away from me now.

Ive bought a thermometer and will start the protocol of testing my temperature to see how much I can increase my medication by the temperature method. I took my temperature this evening out of interest and its 35.9. I know I have to do it in the morning properly.

The new T3 arrived today, Tiromel. That will be easier to split than the stupid capsules Ive been using which I had to empty out and split up.

It has occured to me that as Doctors don;t test for T3, if they had my other figures in from of them ie High TSH and Low T4, they would start increasing a prescription dose although I guess it would be T4 they would be giving me.

Hadnt heard back from Dr Peatfield and now I see he's gone back into hospital. I still feel unsure if I should have visited my GP about the high Free T3.

Numberone1, the quickest way to clear elevated FT3 is to stop adding more T3 to it. No need to be scared about stopping T3 suddenly, thyCa patients are taken off 60+mcg T3 overnight for 2 weeks, then resume T3 or T4 at the previous dose. 4 days off T3 should have reduced level. Is there any chance you can get a FT3 test to see what level is now?

I am exhausted by not taking it for 3 days which is why I added 5mcg today and will try and titrate up a bit. However, I won;t know if Im over medicating again because I had no symptoms that Im aware of.

Im going away shortly and don;t have time to get the FT3 test done again. All very stressed. Hoping taking lower dose with not be adding much to what might be left. What do you think?

Numberone, all I know is the last dose T3 you took should be out of your system by day 4 but it will take more time for elevated levels to drop.

Hi No 1 , notwithstanding what the others are saying, which I haven't read, I went about 4 days not taking my Levothyroxin back in September time approx. I'm hypo, and autoimmune, it was quite a while before anything else started weird.

You sound very stressed and anxious to me - that is v definitely tiring, you're putting your brain on overload, you know all the reasons, but pleasure don't automatically assume everything is always down to having a thyroid problem all the time, especially if you do have other health or personal problems also, so just read this in conjunction with whatever others may also write. Believe you me I know all about neural effects from stress, if you drink too much at a time of stress that doesn't help either. Been there done that before as said! I went through all the neural effects of brain injury, which I still have, long before I started getting into my thyroid, because I have developed other conditions also.

Have a look at chriskresser.com, read his article on low T3 Syndrome, if you think it's applicable to you, then take notice. However as realised on here, physical, and emotional welfare and stability are essential for health and wellbeing. Ive had 3 years of trying to work it all out, yet only 1 weekend when I felt really 'unwell' and in a real emotional tizz that left me exhausted and feeling unable to cope. Throughout it all apart from the 4 days of experimenting with Levo dose, which I shou,d have done I have now regulated my self to almost normal prescribed dose, for me it suits.

I'm now trying to get rest of my health sorted out, with what and when I eat, have been making sure I'm taking some of the vits I need as II've found out recently have germs in my urine. My stress and frustration have been less than in recent weeks before that.

One thing I'm also learning is that to keep reading about what is wrong with other people made me think OMG is that my problem! And that is not useful. Now I can shut down mentally and start playing games on iPad or just switch off and watch telly. It'smy chill out time and we all need that. I hope you find the answer that rights for you. s x

I'm not medically qualified at all, just someone with a few too many things gone wrong not associated apparently with my thyroid. But my whole endocrine system in general is related, so that's what I'm concentrating on and anything that helps that also helps neural stability.

Bless you Mango, I do understand what you are going through, it's **** I know, please though do try and take some chill out time for you.

go back to step I. My views on here are probably not popular, but not everything in life can be cured by taking masses of pills, just the correct ones, at the right time in the right way and also eating a healthy balanced diet. As said I speak from personal experience of not paying attention to my whole health.

Love yourself, you only have 1 life. S xxx

Ah thank you. I can get obsessed when I think there is nothing I can do about it but I can't seem to get an explanation as to why I have such a high Free T3 and yet all the other labs aren;t indicating a problem. Im about to fly to New York and don;t want to go with problems.

I doubt Low T3 syndrome is my problem but I shall read it.

I am very conscious of health etc as my Daughter has type 1 diabetes and we all lead a very healthy lifestyle . I don;t even drink that much. However, emotionally I have had a nightmare for about 20 years if not longer and that obviously cant help.
