After considering all the comments about taking T3--- which I started last week I think I am going to try ndt instead with possibility of adding T 3 later.
Could I have info as to where to buy ndt please..if you could pm me that would be great.
Many thanks for pointing out dangers of T3 for a novice like me.

The 'problem' with ndt, is that the amount of t3 in it is considered to be much higher than the amount we would normally have in our bodies... Consequently the docs use this as an excuse not to prescribe it. They are happy to prescribe t4 though with no t3, which is even worse for us that the ndt.
I have done really well with ndt and have no intention of returning to synthetics. Why are you thinking you might have to add t3? The synthetic stuff doesnt work the same way as the ndt..... Here's a link anout it.... thyroid-s.com/natural-desic...
I think the commonly used argument against NDT is that a pig's thyroid produces T4 and T3 in a ratio of 80-20%, whereas the human thyroid gland is closer to 95-5%.
But that would require us to effectively convert T4 to T3, in order to use all that T4 produced by our thyroid glands, right...? Many hypothyroid patients cannot effectively convert T4 to T3, which means they remain hypothyroid, even if their T4 levels are found to be "optimal" by doctors...this is why I think many of us do better with the higher T3 to T4 ratio in NDT.
I told my consultant about Hilary Clinton taking T3 but he said that because of unreliable supplies of pig thyroid he could not endorse it. I would still like to try it though !
I think there would be riots in the streets of some countries if supplies of bacon, sausages, pork chops, ham and roast pork became unreliable. Your endo is talking rubbish and making it up as he goes along. As long as various commonly eaten food products continue to come from pigs there will be pig thyroids to go with them. The world is unlikely to run short any time soon.
My sister been on Thyroid WP for a few years and gets on well with it. I've only been on it a couple of months and starting to feel better. She was on Armour but switched to WP, which also has the advantage of being cheaper than Armour, it also has less fillers. You can get it from USA.
I'd say a well known site like STTM is a little more reliable than stories and hearsay. I've seen nothing on here so far to indicate a problem with Thiroyd and for myself, my TSH and T4 have both gone down since starting on it, so it seems that's one "story" debunked as far as I'm concerned.
Hi Nicolas_cr I checked out the details of the factory in Thailand that supplies my Thiroyd before I bought them and their Quality Management System is ISO 9001 certified by UKAS and their General Manufacturing Process is certified by SGS so you know everything is above board or they wouldn't get that certification. They are a massive Pharmaceutical company. Always think it's best to check out the details before listening to scare mongering and thank god I did because the NDT has changed my life. I do appreciate it doesn't work for everyone but I have heard loads of success stories, best thing I ever done
Would you mind pm me the details of your supplier of Thiroyd? as I have decided to go down the NDT route but worried I'll choose the wrong supplier!
Thanks so much
Sorry Nicolas I can't comment on Thyroid S as it's Thiroyd I use. The information is easy to access online, the company I use has a website which is full of information. The ISO certifications are the same world wide, it's a standardisation process which is used in all medical and pharmaceutical practices. I work in Medical devices so I suppose the information makes sense to me and knew what to look for when I was researching the product. I wouldn't buy medication from any company whither its in China or UK if they didn't have these certifications.
Nevertheless STTM is a valuable source of information for a great many people, as are the forums here, where a wide range of advice based on experience is available.
On here there is a general consensus that what works for one person may not work for another so there's no real bias in favour of NDT or synthetic. However sharing unsubstantiated "stories" about the contents of a fairly widely used brand of NDT does have the potential to muddy the waters for those searching for information and guidance, which was the point I was trying to make.
'Only official statements from manufactures (sp) can count as reliable.'
We believe everything BigPharma tell us ?
Ha ha haaa ! You're kidding, right ?
Look it's really great that you found something that works for you. Many many of us who contribute to the forum use NDTs, some from Thailand, some from elsewhere. I would imagine that one of the reasons Thai manufacturers are reluctant to state the contents of their meds in many places is that it would then make it more difficult to sell without prescription.
Incidentally any meds, if they were called Lily the Pink's medicinal compound - a very 'silly' name - and they worked for me, I'd carry on taking them. No 'silly' name would put me off. I'm glad that you've found a med that works for you but that's no reason to attempt to discredit other meds which appear to work for many other people.
