Since Sept I have gradually transitioned from 100 mg levo to 1 grain of NDT - thiroyd. I had a blood test this week and my TSH levels have gone from 1.9 to 5.20 - does this mean I should return to levo? Thoughts gratefully appreciated. Many thanks.

Juliette71, it means you need more NDT. 1 grain is bioactively equivalent to 75-100mcg Levothyroxine but I've observed that members switching from 100mcg Levothyroxine often end up taking 2 to 2.5 grains NDT. You can increase in 1/2 grain increments every two weeks. I recommend you hold at 2 grains for 6 weeks and have a FT3 thyroid blood test to check FT3 remains within range. TSH is likely to be below range and FT4 will be lower in range than when you were taking Levothyroxine.

Juliette.. Clutter is absolutely correct. In addition, you might think about taking your temperature about 3 pm each day. That can be a good indicator when you should raise your dosage of NDT again. Just keep a simple log of your temps, dosage and a few notes about how you are feeling that day. Here is a good read on taking one's temps. If you are self-treating, it can be very valuable.
