100mcg and TSH has gone up

I'm a bit premature posting because I'm still waiting on my Thriva results (which should arrive later today or tomorrow) but my GP TSH results have come back and my TSH has actually gone up!

Bloods were done at 9:20 and the result was 3.99 (0.4-5.0). Previous test done end of Nov was 2.35.

I'm going to have to ring the GP and ask for an increase because she's marked it 'Normal, no further action' 🙄

I'm just feeling a bit dejected; I really hadn't anticipated the result coming back so much higher.

Why would it come back higher this time? I seem to have been responding to the 25mcg increases (25/50/75) but this one seems to have done nothing. 😶

Just when you think you're on the right track...!

I hope not! I'm not quite mid-thirties. :)

Your body is finally recognising how hypothyroid you have been

Have vitamin levels improved?

Often TSH goes up as you improve low vitamin levels

in reply to SlowDragon

Hi Slowdragon,

Not sure yet 🤦🏻‍♀️! I should've waited to post but I was feeling much too sorry for myself!

I have been supplementing and vitamin levels were all going the right way on my last test.

I have been having new symptoms as well as some old ones reappearing.

That's really interesting about TSH going up with vitamin levels. Although that seems counterintuitive. How would that work?

Low vitamin levels often hide how hypothyroid we are

You need good vitamin levels to utilise thyroid hormones. Good vitamin levels often improve conversion of Ft4 to Ft3

If you have low vitamins, Ft4 remains high and you can’t use Ft3 very well. So you feel hypo ....but bloods and TSH say euthyroid

Strictly gluten free diet likely helping too

Oh that's really interesting. Mindbending that drs aren't taught about vitamins.

Thank you - I feel much less helpless now. I dread to think what life would look like if I'd not found this forum.

Hello OforOnward :

I think until you get your ferritin up and over around 70 you will not be able to utilise or convert the Levothyroxine well enough to feel much better.

I have written a slightly longer reply on the bottom of your post from around 2 weeks ago

as I wanted to " touch base " after Sunday.

I did read that. Thank you. :) I thought I'd replied though.🤦🏻‍♀️
