Serenity and 20 - 1 natural hormone cream
Hello DW, I use the progesterone only cream and that along with a DHEA supplement really sorted out the symptoms which in my case were predominantly mood related - I'd turned into a raging snarling beast and was really worried I'd do irreparable damage to my family relationships! I didn't want to take prescribed HRT because of family history and having absolutely no faith in a health service that thinks it OK to prescribe heavyweight hormones without bothering to check the individuals own hormonal landscape - I was probably oestrogen dominant so Premarin could have made me worse...
Thankyou Liverish, thats interesting, do you get your DHEA on prescription and do you need testing for that first?
I buy DHEA From Fountain of Life but you can get it from many sources. I've used it on and off for 20 years (I'm 53). Creation of DHEA (a precursor hormone) diminishes from age 25, I could tell you what I think it's done for me but it will sound like sales spiel. Message me if you are interested, they really help the adrenals too but may mask symptoms.
Hello dwsmith,
I use Serenity by Wellsprings but still suffer hot flushes through being menopausal.
I would say there has been a slight improvement and do not know how bad the flushes might have got if I hadn't used this product.

Hi Flower007, thankyou for your reply, have you ever tried the 20 - 1 cream ? It contains a small amount of oestrogen as well as Progesterone so do think the Serenity is probably not enough on its own?
It depends what low sex hormones you have dwsmith.
I was tested earlier in the year (blood & saliva) & Dr P told me to use Serenity Cream.
I am in the process of asking my endo for further testing though as hot flushes are so annoying at night and think I may need a little more than a transdermal cream.
If you are not sure what to use ask your GP for a blood test. I wouldn't recommend the saliva test unless you have someone to read the results as when I posted mine .. nobody could interpret them (including myself).

Make sure you thyroid is addressed correctly first of all.
A little progesterone cream might be useful in addition to oestrogen cream (Estrogel). It is oestrogen that goes don in menopause. Unopposed progesterone can lead to elevation in blood sugar and increased dopamine levels. Prior to seeing me, many of my patients have been put on progesterone cream alone, and very often are overweight. Oestrogen gel helps you to think clearly, builds bones and stop hot flushes. It is important to have the beta-17-oestrodiol and to have it as gel, not pills.
Dr Lee Vliet has written "Screaming to be Heard". I recommend it. She has also got a website.
Thankyou Bodil333, the 20 - 1 cream is a cream containing both Oestrogen and progesterone in 20 - 1 ratio , Progesterone being the majority. do you think that ratio is enough oestrogen? Im not sure if it is beta 17-oestrodial I will have to check this, thank you again.
