Hi all i'm due to have an Synacthen test in a few weeks due to the fact I struggle to raise Thyroxine without having hyper side effects. I am so scared and would like to know if im worrying needlessly.

Acth Test
If you need the extra stimulus to make cortisone, then by all accounts you will feel great for a few days after the test. If not, then you just continue to feel the same as you do now.
I havent had a synacthen test, but this is info i have gleaned from people who have had them.
Good luck!

I have had the short synacthen test done as i had low morning cortisol (and still do!) in my experience it was nothing to fear or dread, the only thing i would say (hoping not to put you off!) the nurse administering the injection said this will hurt...i thought she was just saying it to be kind like when they say "sharp scratch" before they draw blood...my goodness it hurt alright and it was no sharp scratch either!! But other than that there were no lasting effects. Hope it goes well for you and you get some answers.
