Rapid weight gain, dry eyes, tiredness & tests.

I have gained 10lbs in around 3 months & my eating habits haven't changed in anyway or my activity levels. I have a blood test booked in for Thursday for my thyroid. Previous standard blood tests have come back negative. But with the weight gain, tiredness, dry eyes & really do believe I have hypothyroidism. If standard tests show negative, are there any additional tests I can have?

I feel incredibly run down & feeling low because of the recent weight gain & don't know what else to do.

Any help or advice is very much appreciated.

Becs1973, if it is a walk-in test, make sure you have the blood draw as early in the mornng when TSH is highest, and fast (water only), as TSH falls postprandially. Post the results and ranges (figures in brackets) in a new question and members will advise.

If your GP doesn't test TSH, FT4, FT3, and thyroid antibodies private tests can be ordered but won't get you a diagnosis if TSH and FT4 are within range via your GP.
