Hi there

You've got a very similar profile name to me 😀

I've added t3 to my levo recently, but this is only because my t3 was low and I'm not doing very well on levo. I'm hoping that will it help me all round, weight gain is one my issues too! I believe when medication is right weight should start to come off.

Gp thinks everything is fine and just wants to give me anti-depressants, no hope of getting referred to a specialist. 😕

Fingers crossed you'll get somewhere with the specialist.

Haha great minds hey :) I've been nagging my gp for ages now to see a specialist he also gave me depression meds I don't take them as I know I'm not depressed ! So hopefully I'll get a proper diagnosis of the specialist

HI Pinklady79, I now self-medicate, the endo in Newcastle will never prescribe T3, even though my bloods show that I am not converting from T4 to T3, which is our available energy. I am quite slim, but watch my diet very carefully to be like this. No gluten, no carbs, only the vegs allowed, salads, meats eggs, cheese and that's it really. I have 7 kids, work hard for myself, but totally had no energy for anything else, this has been 12 yrs, only took them 2 years to realise this!!!

I have pretty much kept up my T4 at 125mcg nightly, not in fact lowered it, take 1 tab of T3 in the morning, and if I am going dancing, take another 1 at around 6pm, if not going out, take half a tab in the afternoon.

I have dropped 5 lbs in 4 weeks, don't want to loose anymore, dropped to 8.4, feel I am 5.45'.

I buy my T3 in Crete, so am lucky to be able to do that, but really don't expect any help from the Endo, they just, in general won't prescribe it, for whatever reason, and they know that they are keeping us sick. As I have previously said in other messages, if they had it, they would sharp self-medicate, but keep it to themselves, such an arrogant, narrow minded lol.

Keep me informed, very interested to see if you get any joy. Which area are you in?

Pinklady79, Being on an optimal dose of Levothyroxine will also speed up your metabolism. If you post your recent thryoid results and ranges (figures in brackets after results) members will advise whether you are optimally medicated.

Hi pinklady79, I wouldn't know any reliable websites here, I just buy it in Crete, going back on Tuesday morning, only just come back end of July, might be well worth ur while to take a medical trip lol, ull save a fortune, but you can only buy 2 per day, so just trapse round all of the chemists. I know that In Andorra, they have everything, no restrictions, so see if u can get a pharmacy there to send out, Veronica

T3 and a good 'gluten free' diet i.e. Paleo AI {autoimmune} it really works. My daughter 18yrs was 64.5 and is now 52.5, admittedly she took it slowly but after 18 months she is very happy - lots of changes to diet and supplements have worked really well. She takes 75levo & 10g T3 twice a day and weekends she has to lower her levo to 50mg but keep her T3 the same.
