I meant the results of the ones you had done before - that you said were mid-range.... if you do not have the results - it is important to always ask for them so you can monitor your own progress and health...

What are your thyroid levels, too much t3 can cause hair loss. x

My hair was coming out before t3 but last 2 weeks been really bad . I've not had thyroid bloods done for 6 months so don't know levels, hospital put my Levo back up to 125 6 months ago after my go put it down to 75 last year after bloods , but I thought I would try some t3 because I didn't feel any better, I don't know what to do now, I have not told my go I'm taking t3 so can't go to him for help 😤😤

Are you taking both the T4 and the T3? Any dose change up or down can increase the rate of hair loss for different reasons.

Weebella, how much T3 are you taking? Is it in addition to 125mcg T4 or instead of?

Clutter I'm taking 100 t4 and 12.5 t3 I don't know if that's the cause of it, my head is so itchy and sore , if it is the t3 would it not have started before now I've been taking it since start of July 😤

Weebella, Endo really should have asked for follow up bloods after reinstating 125mcg. If your levels were near the top of the range it's possible the T3 has made FT3 over range and that can cause increased hair loss. The time scale fits in. I don't see why it would make your head itchy and sore though.

Weebella, I advise a FT3 test to check levels thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

Clutter, I'm interested in your comment that FT3 over range can cause increased hair loss. My TSH has gone down recently to 0.10 but my FT3 has increased to 6.9 (range 2.5-5.7) and my hair loss has increased. Why does this happen and how can I bring down my FT3? I'm in the process of raising my iron which is increasing, but very, very slowly. I did get to a point where the hair loss was decreasing, but this has got worse recently - I wasn't aware that FT3 levels could be a factor in hair loss too.

Thanks for any advice!

I was told free t4 in mid range and free t3 in upper one third normal range....is ideal for thyroid and anything too high or lower can cause hair loss. Low ferritin iron can cause hair loss and vitamin c makes it absorb better.....I have the same problem and after googling a lot....found out that not getting enough and inbalance or too little or too much causes these sy;mptoms......and that if you are on t4 only a tsh of 1 and mine was higher and I had low ft4 and low ft3 eventhough I supposedly was in the normal test brackets......so it is important to really know all you can about the thyroid and pull your own blood test sheets from online and get your labs done when you are in doubt or major changes occur and keep a journal of what you are taking and your symptoms....lysine is good for hair and evening primrose oil......because if you are changing too much too often it is hard to find out what is causing what symptoms.....you can get a ft3 ft4 and tsh test for around 50 on the internet and then take the sheet to a local blood draw lab from places like healthonelabs.com
