Hello folks, I wondered if anyone had used ThyroGold a bovine desiccated thyroid from blessedly BSE free New Zealand, and if there was an informed Endo/GP in the UK? You can private message me if answering breaks any rules here. Thank you!
Any experience with ThyroGold?: Hello folks, I... - Thyroid UK
Any experience with ThyroGold?
Liverish, email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk for a list of member recommended endos. The office is closed for holidays until 1st September.
Some members have had positive results on ThyroGold, others not. Different brands of NDT suit people in different ways and one brand won't suit everyone. All forms of thyroid replacement require gradual and steady titration as demonstrated in this link thyrophoenix.com/adjusting_...
Thanks again Clutter, that is a very interesting link to thyrophoenix (now I'm worried that I was put up to 125gm Levothyroxine too quickly and my sponge hasn't been given enough time!) shame about the typeface though, makes it really hard to read...
Liverish, Your sponge needed drenching. 75-100mcg is considered a starting dose for adults <50 without heart disease but many doctors only prescribe 25mcg-50mcg which means it takes months to stabilise levels. High TSH means higher dosing is required. I don't think 125mcg was inappropriate. I was put on the equivalent of 200mcg after thyroidectomy to suppress TSH.
Have tried this and felt well on it but my thyroid tests unfortunately not good while taking it. (had full thyroid check from Blue Horizon). Also, though this might be a plus for some lost weight, think it was due to an ingredient in the product In spite of being hypoT I'm on the thin side!!! Good luck if you decide to try.
Thank you FoxGlove, losing weight won't be an unwanted side effect for me!
