Thyroid interpretation - odd results

Hi- my sister has just got her thyroid test results back from Genova and they are as follows:

TSH - 0 (!)

Free T4 - 14.2 (11.5 - 22.7)

Free T3 - 6.9 (2.8 - 6.5)

Antibodies all normal - or in actual fact, not detected at all.

Any ideas? I am a bit stumped with this one!

Thanks, Carolyn

Carolyn, is she taking any medication, i.e., already on thyroid meds? If not, those FT3 results and suppressed TSH would lean towards hyperthyroidism. If she is, then she my be on a little too much medication.

I agree with jazzw, in fact my private tests with Blue Horizon 2 weeks ago showed TSH 0.005 (0.27 - 4.2), T4 14.8 (12 - 22), T3 6.99 (3.1 - 6.8)

Your sisters results are almost exactly the same as mine and Blue Horizon advised my that I am hyper and need to reduce my meds .... hope that helps :)

Hi Jan - likewise - thanks so much for your response and for posting your own results. How funny that the results are so similar. Yes it looks like she is hyperthyroid then. Best wishes, Carolyn

Thank you Jazz - apologies for the delay in response. No - she is not on any thyroid meds - this is a first investigation. Hence it does seem she may be hyperthyroid. Many thanks, Carolyn
