Hi, someone in another community suggested I post my throid results here as I have fibromyalgia and little fluctuations here and there may be affecting my symptoms. If there's anyone around who can help inrerpret the results I'd appreciate it. They appear 'normal' to the doctors and I think they probably are but the results are:-
Have you had FT3 tested? You really need TSH, FT4and FT3 together to get a clear picture. Are you taking thyroid medication? Do you have thyroid antibodies? Have you had vitamin levels tested?
No FT3, vitamins or antibody tests done. No medication. I went to gp about fatigue & they did blood tests and the thyroid tests as results shown above.
Should I ask for these other tests? Do the results I have suggest further investigation?
As far as GPS are concerned your results don't warrant further investigation. However, on this forum we find thyroid disease is not always fully evaluated as NHS only does minimal tests. If you want a fuller evaluation you can get tests done through online labs like medichecks and Blue Horizon listed on Thyroid UK website. GP should be able to do vitamins B12, folate, ferritin and vitamin D. They often say all fine even when at bottom of range. GP may do TPO antibodies test too.
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.
All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results
That's fantastic info SlowDragon, many thanks. I will call my surgery on Monday and ask to speak to my gp about further tests to see if they will help or if I will beed to go the private route.
