During rest, reading etc, my thumbs go into spasm and fingers cross over. So painful, what's this about? could it be statins?

I think it is something to do with low calcium and often happens to people who have had a thyroidectomy with subsequent damage to the parathyroid glands that control calcium levels. Is that possible for you?

Statins DO affect muscle. Did you look at the side effects? I don't know if it interferes with enzymes but since you are depleting yourself of co-enzyme-Q 10, that is probably it. Unless your cholesterol was well over 250, you should not be taking statins. Is there another reason you are?

Cholesterol is being produced by your liver because of your thyroid condition. Cholesterol is needed to make glucosteroids as well as sex hormones which includes progesterone. Do you really feel you should be taking them?
