Nanj51, I think it's criminal to test TSH only. TSH is a pituitary hormone and TSH only testing doesn't show whether a patient is converting T4 to T3 well. It completely misses diagnoses of secondary hypothyroidism due to isolated TSH deficiency or other pituitary or hypothalmic dysfunction.

Many doctors think positive antibodies are insignificant and only treat the resulting hypothyroidism. If patients know they have Hashimoto's they can make dietary changes which do help a lot of people reduce Hashi flares and antibodies.
