Hi

I am suffering from a flu like virus, ache from head to foot, sweating, sore throat, headache.

I have never had one this time of year before. Anyone else got it?

I have read some old posts and some say to increase your thyroid med when you have a virus,

should this be done?

Thank you browny

Browny, I haven't seen advice to alter thyroid dose but taking 3,000mcg vitamin C daily will boost your immune system.

Thanks Clutter,

I take 1000mcg. daily normally, is it advisable to take 3000mcg. daily all the time or just when I have the flu?

Browny, just up the dose when you have a virus or illness.

My latest discovery is colloidal silver - which I buy from the health store in my local town. Might be worth trying?

My whole family have had it, except me.

Sorry your family have had it, I didn't even know there was a flu virus going around, I don't know anyone else who has it. Hope your family feel better soon.

Oh they're all recovered now. Lasts about 7/10 days

I feel the same. Started last Friday week with sore chest and flu like symptoms.

As soon as I get over one virus I get another, despite taking vitamin pills. So fed up with it. I have no life, I rarely go out because I always feel ill.

I had my thyroid removed 10 years ago. Take 100mcg Levo per day.

Sorry to hear you have the virus as well.

My G.P. has been decreasing my levo. according to my TSH level since Christmas and I have picked up everything going round.

I told them at my last visit I wanted it increasing again and for them to stop messing around with my metabolism and luckily he agreed to it.

Do you think you are on enough levo. as I take 125mcg. and still have a thyroid. Maybe an increase may help your immune system.

What are your levels like?

Hope you feel better soon

I find having good levels of Vitamin D stop me having colds or flus. I haven't had any for almost a year now. :-) (probably also because I don't work with small children any more too) Hope you feel better soon x

Thanks Helen,

I do take Vit D but ran out a few days before starting with the virus. I wonder could my levels have dropped quickly from not using it and made me prone to picking up the virus. Just a thought.

Took extra Vit C yesterday as advised on here and feel a little better today.

It probably wouldn't affect your levels in just a few days (I don't think) but the vitamin C is great too. Glad you're feeling a bit better :-)
