Alansmith81, yes a few of us have weight loss. I lost 7kg soon after starting Levothyroxine and the only time I've managed to gain weight is when I've stopped taking Levothyroxine. As soon as I'm back on T4 the weight falls off again.
If you post your thyroid results with the lab ref ranges (figures in brackets after the results) members will advise whether you are optimally medicated.
Only when I was over medicated 11 years ago.....I was also working out at the gym and riding my bike a five mile round trip to get there.have recently lost , well toned up more like it, since again picking up exercise this time mountain biking a hour and ten mins three times a week. I'm still overweight for my height but happier than I was. Do you have blood results to post, maybe you are under medicated. x
Alan, ask your GP to test thyroid antibodies. Make sure your next thyroid test is early in the morning and before breakfast (water only) as TSH is highest then. If antibodies are positive many GPs will start treatment when TSH is over range rather than waiting until you are overtly hypothyroid with TSH >10.
My daughter was seriously hypothyroid and lost a lot of weight, but went back to her normal weight once on thyroid medication.
Yes. I have had Hashi's since 97 although nhs only woke up to it in 2005. Also was kept undermedicated by numerous nhs Hippocratic Oafs. Nevertheless have always been slim and at times even lost weight. I eat like a horse.
Fairly sure it was the daily diarrhoea- which has stopped since i gave up gluten 2.5 years ago
In any case, you sound undermedicated, you have the classic symptoms. Have you had a test recently to see what your thyroid levels are doing?
Low b12 causes a myriad of symptoms including neurological
Hi I was overactive and gained 3 stone my sister is underactive and became as skinny as they come. My endocrine says that the way me and my sister are it would indicate some genetic crossed wires. It may be that with underactive you don't put on weight. We aren't all as the book writes
I was hypo. for decades and very skinny but gained about 3st after age of 40. I could not lose weight until diagnosed and treated with NDT; I then lost 1st in a month without changing my diet. I'm now on T3 only and went on the 5:2 diet and lost 24lbs. I'm quite happy with that and just do diet days now and again for health reasons. What I found was that if my medication was not correct I could not lose weight.
