Caught a terrible stomach bug and wonder what to do, as I should stay away from Aspirin and Ibuprofen as I am on Warfarin. I am also on Levothyroxine. Is the only thing Paracetamol? I got the shakes but no fever. Hope to get some sleep.

Hi..I am on warfarin as I have had a heart valve replacement and am also on levo after having rai treatment for overactive thyroid. I am prescribed paracetamol and can also take codeine phosphate for arthritis as they told me at the time of my heart op that it was safe to take both when the pain gets too bad

Contact your local pharmacist as they will be able to give you the best advice.

Poor you, it really is tough that kind of illness. How are you feeling now? A good strong/high potency multi-strain pro-biotic should help increase and support your gut's good bacteria and fight off the pathogens causing your stomach bug. Stay off dairy and sugar whilst you're ill, because these foods will help 'feed' the pathogens in the gut, which will slow down your recovery rate.

Thanks for all your advice and wishes, I am much better now. I basically followed the age old formula of bananas, rice, toast, Cola, and tea.
