I'm looking to go on NDT, having been on levo for three months. I just wondered if anyone knew of any NHS or private Drs who are known to prescribe NDT? If so it would be great if you could PM me.
Thank you

Welcome to the forum, Smashers999.
Email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org.uk for a list of endos and private GPs recommended by members. You should confirm they are willing to prescribe NDT prior to making an appointment.
hello smashers999,
As you probably know all major medications that are licensed in this country are listed in the Monthly Index of Medical Specialities (MIMS).
If the medication your doctor wants to prescribe is not in the MIMS, then he will not prescribe it.
However, there is an exception to the rule when medications can be prescribed on a "named-patient" basis. More info at

Good luck finding a sympathetic endo,

Given my own experience of Levothyroxine, I'm wondering whether you've given it enough time to work. I'm still not on a stable dose after a year, but do feel that, with each dose increase, things are getting better. Like you, after a few months I thought Levo would not work for me and looked at NDT. The doctor I saw advised me to try to get on the right dose of Levothyroxine first. She said I was clearly under medicated. Since then, I have very gradually increased my dose.
I'm not trying to put you off NDT. Lots of people only get well on it.
