Oops, need advice on NDT dosage.....

I had a Graves attack, 2007, was on block and replace for 18 months, no meds after that. Suffered hypo symptoms quite badly for last 2 years, fatigue, palpitations etc. Endos not willing to help. Last numbers were TSH 1.6, FT4 12.4 FT3 4.2 in Oct 14.

Been on NDT for 4 months now, started very low and built up very slowly. Got to one and half grains and have held there for 6 weeks and had blood test, numbers today are TSH <0.01 FT4 21.6 FT3 9.5. I didn't take the NDT before doing the test.

Obviously from the results I've overdone it, going over FT3 ranges. My question is do I stop for a few days and resume, and if so, at what dosage given today's numbers, or do I continue tomorrow at a lowered amount, if so what?

I'm happy with the NDT. Lots of my hypo symptoms have resolved, my heart has stopped beating irregularly, palpitations have stopped and blood pressure is almost normal. Sinus blockage is still resolving itself and tinnitus is much better. Mood has lifted.

I've been ok until about two weeks ago, but since then I haven't felt so good, haven't slept well this week and am starting to feel a little wired. I'm feeling hot periodically too tho that might also be menopause. I'm finding it quite difficult to gauge the NDT as over symptoms are very similar to under ones and I wasn't sure if I was taking too much or too little until today. I haven't developed any anxiety though, nor am I crying 24/7 which is what happened when I took too much NDT too soon over Christmas. That's a relief, but I'm a little concerned this might start tomorrow or the day after....

Any thoughts would be much appreciated, so grateful for the help from this site x

Jacqui, If you can manage without NDT for a few days that will drop your FT3 fairly quickly. You obviously convert T4 to T3 very well so consider reducing dose to three quarters of a grain.

Thanks Clutter, felt that is what I should do, glad you think the same. Happier with confirmation from the experts! Should I repeat the blood test after 6 weeks on three quarters of a grain? Or wait longer?

Jacqui, see how you feel. If you feel well you can probably leave it a few weeks longer.
