This is my first post, I suffer from hyperpigmenetation and are desperately trying to get to the bottom of why, I had theses tests done recently and was told they were normal - but whats normal?
Your advice would be appreciated so much.

Thank you. Should have added that I have been tested for addisons and it was negative. I had a goiter 12 months ago which settled down. Had it scanned. Just still feel that my thyroid is not right. Suffer from muscle twitching too and was tested for all scary conditions.
Could it be Vitiligo ? - Which is auto-immune. So have you had your thyroid anti-bodies tested ? Could it be you have Hashimotos ?
Hi Martz you don't get hyper pigmentation with Vitiligo. You loose pigment as its believed to be an autoimmune condition - so develop white patches where you no longer have pigment......it's one I've dealt with for many years -am now Lilly white all over & only turn red if I dare brave even the English spring sunshine....lol!!! So no sunbathing!!!
Thanks all. Skin pigmentatio is melasma. Seems it could be related to thyroid proba. Brown patches I was wondering whether I could be hypothyroid despite normal Results. I understand that the normal ranges are debateable.
Melasma can indicate high copper/low zinc. Copper correlates with estrogen, which is why this often happens in pregnancy. Copper overload can suppress thyroid by reducing zinc levels. Have copper and zinc tested. Vegetarian diets can lead to high copper. Zinc is mostly in animal foods. Another way to lose zinc is pyroluria, a genetic condition that may affect 10% of us.
Considering that a so-called 'normal' person, with no thyroid condition whatsoever, would have a TSH of 0.8 to 1.25, yours is too high. But you would never get a doctor to admit that. Difficult to tell with the Frees, because you Don't give a range, but they certainly look low. I agree, you need your antibodies tested.

So my TSH is too high so that's hypo is it? What is the range? I don't think I have been given any other information from Endo although I could go back and ask. I saw him privately.
The range for TSH? Doesn't matter, we all know what it should be. They like to play mind-games with us sometimes, by not giving us the ranges. They think we Don't understan the results any way. But you can always find someone who does on here!
The result that is the most debatable is the TSH. The upper limit is way too high, which means that lots of people that should be treated, aren't. In the US, the upper limit is sometimes 3.0, but it varies from lab to lab. But anything over 2.0 should be considered suspect and further in vestigation carried out.
Looking at those results, it would appear that you are on your way to being hypo. But that's not the whole story. Difficult to say without the ranges, but it could be that you're not converting properly. That could be for a number of reasons. So, the next step would be to get the antibody tests. And, also, iron, ferritin, folate, vit D and vit B12. I see someone above suggested you might be zinc deficient, and that's quite possible. So, add zinc and copper to your list - and anything else the endo/gp is willing to test, such as magnesium and other B vits. They all count. Deficiencies of any kind can make you ill.
