Hey all, I have recieved my blood test results on a thyroid check I requested, and told all is fine/normal. I have a print out of my results but don't know what I should be looking at to check them. I wondered if anybody would be willing to help me? I was tested for lots of different things so don't know what to post on here.
Thank you in advance.

Sam, thyroid will be TSH, FT4, FT3, Thyroid peroxidase (TPO) and thyroglobulin (Tg) antibodies if all were done. Include any vit/mins like ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate.
I have about 5 pages of different tests including electrolytes and creatinine, liver function, full blood count, erythrocyte sedimentation (told normal but is top end of 'normal' 14mm/h in a range of 3-15), serum c reactive protein and serum lipids. I don't know if any of these tests have anything to do with thyroid or Caeliacs etc.
thank you for taking the time to read as I'm pulling my hair out as are many others.
Thank you yes I'm tired quite a bit, I do have the occasional dizzy spell. one of the reasons I looked in to this was extreme mouth ulcers lasting 6-8 weeks and hair loss. When I did the questionnaire from the thyroid uk site it ticked over 50% of the symptoms. Another reason was my mood, I snap over the tiniest things, but my mood can change so drastically it is literally an emotional roller coaster
Vitamin B helps with mouth ulcers.... And B12 really needs to be over 600. The low ferritin can account for the hair loss.. There was a study undertaken by l'oreal which said that the further below 70 you were, the more the hair loss.
Not surprised you snap over anything, you are most likely running on adrenalin as the thyroid doesnT sound like its pulling its weight. The tsh level would be treated in most countries in the world, apart from the uk. A normal tsh is 1. What you really need is a free t4, free t3 and a thyroid antibody test. If the doctor wonT play ball.. ( ideally with a trial of thyroid hormones) you can organise your own tests... where you deal direct with the lab yourself..... Have a look on the home page, under testing. Http://thyroiduk.org.uk
Suggest you have a read of the dr Antony Toft book.... amazon.co.uk/Thyroid-Disord.... ( Its also available on kindle)As he has a good pedigree which the doctors like. :-).
To raise your ferritin, your could try some spa tone, which is water with iron in it..... Its available apple flavoured and it doesnT give you an upset tum... Available in tesco, chemists and online.
To help your low b12. The best option is probably sub lingual lozenges... You put them under your tongue and they dissolve..... Available online.... I use solgar brand but there are others.
A good vitamins B tablet should help the ulcers.
Hope this helps and hasnT confused you..... There is a fair bit to read but we find generally we have to fight for a diagnosis, so need to know as much as possible.....
Improving iron levels reduced the severity of my mouth ulcers.
Regarding your mood... Do you eat gluten? I went gluten-free just a few weeks ago. And in less than a week from going gluten-free my dreadful temper, which was triggered by nothing most of the time, just vanished. It was a huge surprise for me, because I wasn't aware that gluten and bad temper were even related.
Thank you for both replies, suggestions and for taking the time to help me. I have decided to pay for the private blood tests and take it from there. I will keep you informed
