No wonder he left a prescrip for you. You are seriously low on Vitamin D (a hormone not a vitamin as we would think from it's name).
If that's microgram per litre (same as nanogram per millilitre) that is deficient at 24 nmol/l (UK).
one site, Grassroots health say the optimum range is 40-60 ng/ml (x by 2.5 to get nmol/l) i.e. 100-150

Are you mostly indoors?
Do you avoid the sun?
Do you cover up in case?
Do you wear strong factor sunblock even if cloudy?
It's our 'modern' lifestyle and scare-tactics mantra I'm afraid.
Personally I love the sun (we don't get much in the UK anyway barely any April to Sept for a few hours) - 20 mins exposure is supposed to be enough, but it isn't for me! You could eat a ton of oily fish or lots of cod liver oil (like traditional scandinavians) but otherwise supplementing is crucial for us in the northern hemisphere.

Good that you are on a high loading dose - not heard of HuxD3 'tho. J
I haven't spent a lot of time outside over the past 11 months due to recovering from meningitis. Have balance problem, headaches increase in strong light, extreme tiredness amongst other things it's not been a good year. I will take a look at the links thank you ?
I did read back a bit but didn't make the convalescing connection sorry...
If you are Vit D deficient it is highly likely you are deficient in others too - something you can sort yourself 'tho, making a difference yourself is quite uplifting
(B12 contributes to senses inc balance).
Vit D & autoimmune thryoid disease
Thanks, I started on harrow b12 losenges about 10 days ago also take b complex with these. The doctor prescribed iron tablets which i take with vitamin c twice daily. Is there anything else i should be looking at? I know nothing at all about vitamins only what i have read on here which has been brilliant. I am praying the b12 helps with my balance as i have been waiting to see nero pysio for ages, the nerologist thinks my balance is partly because of the damage to my brain and partly because of the damage to my inner ear (i was left profoundly deaf from the meningits) but he cant tell me if it will get better.
Sounds like you have a good doctor
Do you have B12/folate tests results to monitor? only saying as a former member warned of B12 deficiency and/or pernicious anaemia - this should be ruled out first before supplementing as nerve damage connection (MMA & homocystene tests recommended - the PA community have more info). And as I have had nerve conduction tests/MRI & various other tests for 'trapped nerves' I am also attempting to rule out B12, but need to stop supplementing for 4 months to test. J
Yeah sparerib my doctor is brill.
In december my folate was 5.9ug/L range 3.10 - 19.90ug/L and
B12 211ng/L range 150 - 620ng/L so was in range but with advice on here decided to suplement B12 myself because its low in range.
