Carbimizole dose
Depends how you feel. Do you have any symptoms of hyper or hypo? How long have you been on the 15mg?
I've been in 15 for about 8 months, came down from 20. I feel ok apart from the odd night sweat and a few palpitations but really nothing compared to the past. I'm on a herbal mix too which I think is helping. My aim is to get down to 5 eventually. The docs here are a bit useless, still havnt been contacted ( nearly 2 weeks ago)re the last blood test even though the rectifier said there is a flag up to call me on the computer. I think I may go down to 10 and see?
Have you been taking carb for 17 years or have you had spells of remission during that time and just started carb eight months ago?
I've been on and off carbonic ole for 17 years. The specialists say I need the opp but I'm reluctant to have it as I'll just be swapping to under active.. So I'm trying alternative ways to get it down including wheat free diet and lots of protein including meat broths for the gelatine.
Sounds like you are doing all the right things. I went from 40mg daily to 5mg daily, currently off medication but always aware it could come back. Like you have changed diet, zero gluten more paleo.. and also take herbal mix plus acupuncture.... think you need to put up ranges of lab tests from my untutored eye you look a bit hypo..... but please get advice from someone more expert in this area...x
Thanks tilly83. I'll keep going wither diet and see if I can speak to someone re levels. My gut feeling is that my dose is too high. Paleo seems to work too for me although I do have some pulses occasionally. It has definitely reduced my goitre.
That's really interesting, 17 years is a long time. Not surprising you don't fancy an op. Im in remission but I have been offered RAI should I relapse but I'm like you I don't want to end up under active then find I'm left feeling awful because no one wants to give me enough thyroxine to keep me feeling well. When I was allowed to go under as part of my treatment I felt really bad.
Im sure you are on the right track with your Paleo diet. Do you take any vits? I take B12 and Vit D as well as ubiquinol / CoQ10 whichever is best value when I order. Also eat lots of oily fish, take five Brazil nuts a day and 1000mcg slow release Vit C with zinc - my pharmacist said it would be good to take it because I was taking carb ( I was already taking it) I'd like to get myself GF which is similar to your paleo diet I think.
Good luck and hope you get sorted out soon.
I don't really take vits on a regular basis. I think maybe I should. I do have a herbal remedy which is prescribed for me. I assume that I have a leaky gut and I'm convinced that is key to getting better. So Paleo seems to make sense although I find all that meat tough so I'll take a leaf out your book fruitandnutcase and eat more oily fish. I try to not eat dairy too much although I find it tough to cut out yoghurt and goats cheese. Thanks for advice. Do you take carnatine ? I've heard its good for graves.
