Slight sore throat carbimizole ?

Hi guys. I've woken up today with a slightly sore throat, no temp and otherwise ok. Do I need to rush today to get bloods taken, or see if it develops? Thanks. (2weeks into carbimizole 10mg daily)

I have no idea - but certainly in your position (of also not knowing what to do), I would tend to rush rather than sit back. But don't panic - chances are it is a simple slight sore throat.

I had that shortly after I started carb. I decided that as I didn't feel terribly ill and didn't have any sort of temperature I would wait and see, in the end as it was coming up to a holiday break, I rang the surgery and explained all about carb to the receptionist, I was given an appointment for the same day, when I got there the nurse said she had no experience of carb and went off to speak to a doctor ( mine was not available) who thought a 'wait and see' approach would be best (I didn't mention that I had already been waiting and seeing) as I didnt have a temperature and didnt feel particulary ill, but I was to have a WBC just in case.

I had a few slightly sore throats and the odd swollen gland for a while after that but I have never felt really ill and I have never had a temperature or mouth ulcers etc as described on the carb leaflet.

I would rising your surgery and explain how you feel and see what they say, much better safe than sorry.

Excuse the predictive text typos!

I ought to have said that I was on 20 mcg at that time and that my WBC results came back fine and the second last line should say 'I would ring your surgery'

hi

I had sore throats in fact mine still hurts I went straight for a blood test and it was ok the answer to your question is to be better safe than sorry. At least that way you won't worry.

strangely when i was on carbimazol my wbc dropped alarmingly but i had no symptoms at all

it was only on a blood test that this showed up!

i d be tempted to ask for a blood test to check just in case

hope you feel better soon

I worried about this too! I was having bloods taken the next day so the dc just added wbc to these. (All fine btw). She said even if there was a problem it would just be case of having anti biotics & stopping the carb. ( I thought if prob & I ignored would end up hospitalised etc. Mentioned this to go & she laughed & said 'bless you!' In a nice way.) Still worth speaking to the doc, but suspect nothing to worry about.

Thank you all! I really appreciate it. I rang the dr and I have to have bloods taken tomorrow anyway so they will check then. Sore throat has gone anyway, typical! But will have the test anyway. Thank you :)
