I have Hashimoto's but am now reading about causal factors for high levels of cortisol and feeling confused. I went to see an endo earlier this year suspecting Adrenal problems but my short synthen test was within normal range so no further contact. I am surprised to find quite a few of my symptoms are indicators for cushing's syndrome or I may just need to eat more regularly and chill out! I would really appreciate your views/guidance.
My Cortisol results were
Sample
1 87.0 (12 - 22) nmol/L
2 19.1 (5.0 - 9.0)
3 6.7 (3.0 - 7.0)
4 3.8 (1.0 - 3.0)
DHEA levels
AM 0.34 (0.20-0.70)
PM 0.19
DHEA : Cortisol Ratio 0.23 (0.6-3.0)

Unfortunately yes! I used to have low blood pressure and also have lots of fat stored on my trunk with slim legs. A consultant surgeon also told me to demand investigation into why my muscles were so weak but nothing was discovered by other consultants. I also have perminantly red facial cheeks, I was tested for lupus because of it but negative. Now I have seen this can be part of Cushings.
When I was extremely hypo, I had a lot of Addison's symptoms, so I went the other way. I believe bringing thyroid levels up brought my cortisol levels up. But you're already on NDT, so don't know what to tell you. Hope you find an endo that knows something!
Hi i just had this test done and same came back for me cortisol ok yet i asked endo why do i still feel unwell they were looking for Addisons Disease got to go back in 4 months i feel that they havent really looked at cushings so am going to put it forward when i go. Just looked at Cushings you have to have a 24 hour urine test
I was on Levo but my GP kept altering the dose because I was at top of T4 range cut from 150mcg to 125 and 100mcg alternate days he didn't listen to me only cared about test results so with the confidence I gained from the users of this site I changed to NDT 9 months ago.
