rash: does anyone get a itchy rash on sides of... - Thyroid UK
rash
Hi I have4 ,lots of problems with itchiness. It can just be dry skin, or lack of fluid intake ( dehydration), it can be thyroid or or allergy try changing your shampoo, I can only use dead sea shampoo etc.I one area it is unlikely to b e drug related if on meds.
I hope that helps.

thanks Jackie, nipped to GP as this morning my whole face was itching and red. he gave me a different antihistamine and said it was allergy... to what he has no idea he said not uncommon to have reactions with hypothyroidism
Hi Antihistamine alone not enough, you need cortisone cream, GP, if bad and something to moisturise , cream if E.45 lotion not strong enough.I only started having skin problems when thyroid became b ad although for years thyroid under control. I also have psoriasis and Eczema, and unknown !
It is horrible.
Jackie
he said my face would be worse with steroid cream, his attitute was real matter of fact
Hi Well I have just seen 2 dermys as GP`s not good with things like this. They both say mild steroid cream, all over, essential! Also moisturiser on a script. I would see how you go and if no improvement see a different GP at the surgery.
Just my experience and opinion.
Jackie
should you not be sympton free if your blood test are fine.... i think mine have gone bit wonky with the HRT
Hi My skin is not caused by thyroid but being Hypo or hyper can make skin worse.Even though thyroid stable then. MY psoriasis and Eczema only started when Hypo. Long ago now.It can also be kidney or liver but usually dryness and not enough fluid intake. Autoimmune conditions affect everything too.
Doctors do not really know much about thyroid, Endos totally different.
Jackie
dosnt seem to be an endo at this end of the country else i would see one, i spent vast majority of life living of stress so i suspect the hypo due to that, but was only diagnosed jan this year after chest pains
skin only been bad since started levothyroxine
HI It may be that thyroxine does not suit you? Do you need t3 too? l.s of peolp do depends on FT3 test.
There are Endos every where, depends where you live. If you can see on privately and tests and meds then from GP it is better as the hospital rules their protocol, different privately. I have a brilliant one in the midlands. Do find a good one before asking for a referraL. They are everywhere.

Itching is the first sign I get of under medication - usually my heels and scalp. This time my scalp had lots of blister like spots and my hair loss was extreme. Almost back to normal now I'm on 25 mcg more levo.
thats what i thought jezebel69, because i had the throat and head itchin last time it needed increasing, but the doc looked at me as if i talked gibberish and said your bloods are fine i said yes but i started hrt 12 days ago and that could knock them out. not interested
Hi, yes i get the same around the throat area and sides of neck, it also gets hot.
its sooo annoying
