Lump in my throat

Hi everyone,

I have something in my throat which is blocking it. I feel like swallowing it but it never goes. It is not giving any pain in any way but it is giving me a discomfort. What can this be?

I have a lump in my throat too which I have had since May and started when I was prescribed MTX for inflammatory disease and fibromyalgia. I have been to my GP 4 times since with this and first was told it was a virus, then told infection and prescribed antibiotics, then told it was my fibro playing up and then sent to ENT who says it is gastric reflux and was prescribed lansoprazole which has done nothing to take the lump away. I occasionally choke on food and sometimes on nothing and an occasional dry cough. I truly believe it is my thyroid but am unable to find a Dr willing to test me and accept that this is why I have all these symptoms which they are associating/ labelling with fibro. Sorry cant help with your question and sorry for ranting but Im fed up with banging my head on the wall. Gentle hugs Joolz.x

Ask your GP to examine your throat and neck for thyroid swelling which can cause that sensation. If it is swollen your doctor should refer you for an ultrasound scan to measure the condition and size of your thyroid gland and any nodules.
