Is there any reason why I shouldn't take NDT in the afternoon, instead of the morning?

I was thinking, since I feel the most tired in the afternoons - would there be any reason to not take the bulk of my NDT in the avo, instead of in the morning when I wake up? I usually take 1 in the morning, and half in the avo.

Sip, there's no reason why you shouldn't try it :)

No reason at all not to try it (erk - double negative!). Splitting the dose certainly works better for me. I take 1.5 tabs a.m. and 1 around 4 p.m. You *might* find taking the bulk of the dose in the p.m. affects your sleep. If I take my second dose later than 8 (I forget!), sleep is hard to find.

I did wonder about that, but I usually take it about 2pm, and since I don't take much overall (1.5 grains) I'm hoping that taking the one in the avo won't be too much to affect sleep. I'm still trying to figure out why I have palpitations so I'm only taking 1 grain at the moment. They seem to have calmed down a lot, but really don't feel very awake just taking such a low amount! Fingers crossed, a different brand ofNDT will sort it. :-/

Maybe it is because your system doesn't like the rush of all the thyroid hormone at once? But you're already splitting your dose. When are/were your palpitations most noticeable? After the bigger dose? After the afternoon dose? In the evening (when you've had no dose at all)? At night (I hate them at night!)?

Keep a 'dosing diary' of what you're taking and how you feel, at least until you find a steady state that is comfortable and allows you to get on with your life.

It was fairly random actually - there didn't seem to be a pattern at all. At worst, they were there 80% of the day and I couldn't cope with it. They have almost completely stopped, so it's definitely something to do with the NDT. My blood results were pretty spot on, on 1.5 grains and I felt pretty good, so I know 1 isn't enough long term. I have ordered some Nature Throid, hoping that a change will do the trick. If it doesn't, I'm stumped! I'm working on my adrenals as well, so that might be part of the problem.

Do you still have palpitations Humphrey?

I'd give it a whirl and see if it helps.
