So last night was my first night of taking thyroxin at night instead of morning..... And I was wide awake for hours!! Has this happened to anyone else? Does it stop? I'm shattered today!

Taking thyroxin at night instead of the morning...
I believe I'm right in saying this has happened to others too. However, my own experience was a positive one. I slept better and felt so much more energetic on getting up - no grogginess either. The first morning I was up and doing my housework like I did before hypo took over. Don't get me wrong, I still have bad days, as we all do. For example, I had a wonderful uninterupted 8 hours straight through on Tuesday night; last night I slept for 4 hours, up for 2 reading because I woke, then back to bed for 2 hours. Oh, I also experience less anxiety in the night than I did when I took thyroxine in a mornings - a great bonus for me, panick attacks were awful! And of course, you can have your morning cuppa with milk because plenty of time has elapsed since ingestion of meds. Bit more discipline needed in an evening because of leaving at least 2 hours between eating and taking thyroxine. For me it's still better than not having my morning cuppa! It may take longer to get your body used to the change, give it a week or so, unless it's just too uncomfortable for you. However, it could be that it's not for you. Good luck!

Thank you for your reply, that's great to hear it works for you, I'm the same, I only have one coffee a day, in the morning, so if it works this way then that would be best. Is it 2 hrs to not eat anything? I've read 1/2hr to an hour? What if I took it in the afternoon, say an hour or so after lunch, and a couple of hours before dinner? Could that work?
If you take it at night you should have nothing to eat 2 hours before you take your meds as your stomach should be empty.
If you take it in the morning, you have been fasting all night but should take breakfast 1 hour later - some say 1/2 but I think 1 is better.
If you want to take meds in the afternoon - two hours after you eat and not eat anything for another 2 hours. Milk should include food, I believe.
I too slept better and there was the added benefit of sleeping right through in the morning instead of getting up an hour early and just lying there (I sometimes couldn't go back to sleep after taking my thyroxine).
But everyone is different. Ages ago I was on antidepressants which were meant to be kind of stimulating and you were supposed to take them in the morning but they made me very groggy so I took them at night.
So yesterday I could not stop sleeping, I literally slept ALL day! And was still so tired I slept all through the night, which was great, because it ment that not only did I have a great nights sleep (Instead of waking up a few times) But I woke up today feeling.....ok!! I didnt take any thyroxine last night, I couldnt cope with losing another full nights sleep, but I will take it this afternoon.
I decided to try taking it between lunch and dinner, I dont snack between meals, so not eating for a couple of hours during the afternoon is no problem for me. My evenings are too random, Im newly married so our eating patterns are all over the place, plus I don't want to take thyroxin after Ive had a glass or two of wine. (not sure if alcohol makes any difference)
So Im trying this out for the next week or two to see how this goes, I can see the benefits of taking it at night, and maybe I'll eventually end up doing that, but think I'll start if off this way, thank you to everyone for their advice!
Now Im looking up about vitamins, selenium, VitD, B12 etc, wow, theres so much to learn!!
