I think thyro gold is similar to the nutri thyroid that I take. It is a bovine product, not a porcine one like Armour. I think it's much weaker, so I guess you just have to adjust the dosage until you feel right. As a clue, I take 3 x NT plus 50mcg thyroxine. My gut feeling (and it is just that, not evidence at all to back it up) is that 1 - 2 tablets = 25mcg thyroxine.

How much Armour were you taking?

Goodness, you're way under medicated. Thyro gold is much weaker. You're going to need to take a lot more. Why did you change?

to begin with it was due to the fact that getting NDT with a prescription was hard enough came close to being out of meds on several occasions and the prescription had to come via a private dr so it was costing large for the dr and meds from Guernsey and I feel good on the thyroid gold however my weight is going up and im getting thumping in my head and tinnitus plus constipation is returning I was on 4 grains of armour so I assumed that 4 x 150 thyroid gold would be over dont know what to do

You could try increasing slowly. At a guess (and it's just that, a guess) I'd say you'll need to take around twice as much as you are taking now. Maybe more. I replaced 50mcg thyroxine with 3 x NT. The Bovine ones are much weaker, that's why they are sold as health supplements and don't require a prescription.

Have you thought of taking thyroid-s from Thailand. I can PM you a source if you're interested.

yes I have received some the same time as thyroid gold got into a panic and ordered from all sites to see what happened thyroid gold came through easy so did thyroid s the thing I like about the gold is I seem to digest them better. I think that thyroid s is more hit and miss with orders as i think they are being blocked

You may be undermedicated. Originally Thyro Gold tablets were only available in 300 and some complained they were on the 'strong' side and had to open them, so they introduced the 150 to make it easier. This is from STTM:

THYROGOLD, called a “supplement” , was created by the now-deceased John C. Lowe, and his wife currently sells it. Comes in 150 mg and 300 mg tablets. The mgs is NOT equivalent to the same mgs in prescription NDT tablets. i.e. 150 mg may be “similar in effect” to 1 1/4 grains, but that’s a subjective opinion by some. The thyroid powder in the tablets are from New Zealand pasture-fed cows, plus there is 25 mg of Coleus forskohlii, which is said to promote thyroid function. It is a popular OTC product!
