Fileygirl, it is important to warn your dentist that you are hyperthyroid as some injections may react with your thyroid meds.

Hi I am hyper and can't have novacaine(sp?) which dentists use to numb your gum.It contains adrenalin and makes me go to jelly and palpitations. Thete are other local anaesthetics they can use which I am ok with.I had this problem a couple of years before being diagnosed and suggested to my dentist he sends everyones who has this reaction off for a thyroid blood test x

I had a bad reaction at the dentist 5-6 years ago, didn't know what caused it. Now I do :-)

I told my new dentist I was hypothyroid ( he was too) and he must have used different stuff as I had no problems.

I am hypo and too had severe problem with anaesthetics only after being diagnosed. My dentist now holds citanest/octapressin and I have no problems, i.e. allergic reaction, palps. etc.
