Anybody got any hints for getting over to sleep at night?

Some night I get 6 to 6 and a half hours which is great and other nights it's 2 to 3 hours.

I have been takingValerian root tea but to no avail.

Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hi Jackrusell1,

I had this problem many moons ago. Try a few drops of lavender oil on pillow and listen to some meditation cds or go on some apps on your phone , canโ€™t beat the thunderstorms and waterfalls etc. Takes a few days but you need to break that cycle. Tranquillity/meditation ๐Ÿ˜€good luck ๐Ÿ€

Thank you Mags.

Were you hyperthyroid? Or are you in remission now?

Taking calcium, magnesium and zinc tablet at bedtime helps too.

Is this a combined pill ?

Hi Jackrussell1, I found an ionic balance band helped me. Occasionally I would remove it and forget to put it back on and guaranteed I wouldn't sleep well that night, waking every hour. 4 years on I am still hyperthyroid (graves) but have been on no medication for a year now & no longer rely on my band to sleep. Good luck!

Thanks Samru. It'd be worth a try!

Glad to hear you have reached some balance. It gives me hope to hear your experience ๐Ÿ‘

Hi

I have Graves Disease tho in remission for around 3 years

Magnesium is the FIX youre looking for ...

Itโ€™s an amazing mineral , it relaxes the muscles and nervous activity that we all suffer from

It can stop palpitations

Restless leg syndrome and many other nasties associated with Hyperthyroidism .

Apparently around 80 per cent of the nation is deficient in it .

You could take it morning and again before bedtime

Valerian ( capsules ) are great great too

As are Lemon Balm capsules

You will get that elusive good nights sleep ๐Ÿ’ค.... instead of being โ€˜ wired to the moon โ€˜ every night

Please google each of them ... like so ...

Magnesium for HYPERthyroid

Youโ€™ll see the wonderful effects of Magnesium for your Thyroid ๐Ÿฆ‹

Best of Luck

Thank you so much Madge!

That wired up feeling is horrible!

I don't have restless legs but little twitches and movements in my muscles.

Perhaps magnesium would help that too ๐Ÿ˜Š

Yes it will ...

D3 is also beneficial .. google it to see why !

The B vitamins also are most beneficial fur Muscle twitches.. please research all of these fur your benefit

Itโ€™s a miserable thing to experience ... but it is only when these minerals and vitamins are replaced and at optimum levels that you will begin to feel โ€˜ normal โ€˜ again ...

Good luck

I'm on d3

Was on b complex for short time and urine bright fluorescent yellow! So went off them lol

I downloaded a sleep App where you choose 3 sounds from about 60 which are mixed together. Set the timer. I used it for a few months and it seemed to reset my sleep patterns. Free App. called Relax Melodies. Put Sleep App into App Store search and it'll come up in the first few. Icon is a full moon with a plant curving around it.

I had this problem over the first few months after I was diagnosed with Graves. At one point I didn't sleep AT ALL for two weeks. I never thought I'd sleep again. I blamed all sorts of things including the vitamin D supplement I had started to take - all of which I now think were wrong. I tried all sorts of techniques. The one that seemed to work the best was probably the simplest - just don't think about it too much or worry about it. Sleep started to come back and now, a few months later I sleep as well as I ever have. That said, both my TSH and T4 are now in normal range.

I found it amazing how well I could still function without sleep over relatively long periods although it got me down psycologically. Just try to forget about it, focus on getting meds right and sleep will come back.

Yes, I would agree with the others who have replied. Magnesium or a lavender pillow spray.

Lavender knocks me straight out when itโ€™s sprayed around the bedclothes.

Best of luck.

I was awake/up all night waiting for our cat Tabitha to come home, she finally rolled back at 04:30 little devil. Ellie came home early. ๐Ÿ˜Š

hi

Valerian can be heating to the body so as You are already overactive I would think it wouldnt be suitable for you. Try limeflower or rose tea or passiflora in tincture /tablet form

I've been taking valerian tea thinking it would help me sleep. Thank you for that advice! I'll stop taking it ๐Ÿ‘

Hi there, I too was having trouble getting a good nights sleep, and then read an article on a website about Ashwagandha, so decided to try it.

I purchased an organic one and have been taking it for 2 weeks now and have been sleeping peacefully for a good 6-8 hours undisturbed .

Which in turn I am now finding I can last a bit longer during the day before an afternoon nap, which before I was having a morning nap too due to feeling so exhausted.

It does say that it can give you side effects of vomiting or diarreah, or stomach ache so please read up about it more.

Fortunately I have only had a bit of in upset tummy, but itโ€™s worth it for a good nights sleep.

Hope this helps?

Hi Jackrussell1,

Not sure really , think it was before I was diagnosed. I didnโ€™t sleep for 3 month. Just put it down to being on auto pilot.

So tried lavender. A few drops on pillow then downloaded apps for meditation etc. Plugged in the ear phones or had the phone on at side of bed.

Tried reading books but nothing sunk in.

Not been as bad since, but do still have times that soon as I open my eyes(3-4am) thatโ€™s me . I have to get up.so play a game on my phone and soon tires me out so fall asleep on couch. Hey ho !!! Itโ€™s all about breaking that cycle. Good luck๐Ÿ€
